Appealing against a police investigation

Created by Enquiries Red Alert, Modified on Sat, 18 Mar 2023 at 02:25 PM by Enquiries Red Alert

If you are unhappy about the outcome of your complaint, or about how your complaint has been handled, you may be able to appeal to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

To find out who should handle your appeal, please check the letter you received telling you the outcome of your complaint.

If the IOPC handle your appeal, they look at how the police handled your complaint. They do not investigate your original complaint.

The IOPC does not operate a face-to-face service, or advice about your rights or legal advice.
